We Are Occasions Divine
Thanks for visiting our web site In this modern day it is truly an effective form of communication. We do, however, anticipate seeing you at one of our restaurants for “decompression”, celebration of an event, or just stopping by for great food. We look forward to serving you at one of our four locations; Serendipity, Serenity, Sonata or Sassafras. All four restaurants are unique tea, luncheon, and dinner spots that allow you to relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and visit with friends. And most of all make you feel like you have been somewhere unique. I grew up in Seattle and now consider myself a native Hoosier. My restaurants are a culmination of all of my lifelong hobbies; cooking, gardening, home restoration, history, interior design and entertaining. My collections abound (My mother-in-law still wonders if I have anything at home). People stop by and donate tea cups and pots to display. I also receive books for the library in Zionsville. From east to west here is a short description of the restaurants. Sonata - located in Fishers, Indiana is expected to be open in early 2010. Tuscan themes abound in food and in fashion. I have joined forces with Debbie Cook, owner of Twigs, and we have incorporated her antique and home accessories store and her showroom with our restaurant for a true Tuscan atmosphere. The hot tea bar and the fireplace provide a welcoming spot. Our French doors open to a garden patio and also allow us the option to add on a tent for large events. Michael Kelsey, our executive chef, has come up with wonderful flavors and creations. He received his training at The French Culinary Institute in New York City. I have combined some of my favorite recipes with his in hopes that the food and the atmosphere will impress. Serendipity - Carmel, Indiana, anchoring the Arts and Design District is fun and enjoyable. Serendipity means “expect the unexpected”, which you do when you enter through the Morrison Opera House Doors onto marble floors. Have lunch in the vault that Dillinger robbed, or just relax under the 80 year old restored L.S. Ayres chandeliers from the original Tea Room. Our menu has many tea favorites including the famous “Ayres Chicken Velvet” soup. I have been told it is the first authentic tasting one (We know the secret!!). Serendipity’s elegant atmosphere is a great place for showers or private parties! Sassafras - OPENING January 25th - Greenwood, Indiana. You will enjoy this lovely Georgian Colonial (built in the early 1900's for the town doctor). Experience cherry antiques, tapestries, oriental rugs and everything that brings you back to your grandmothers home. Our fireplace in the parlor will be welcoming you. Mr and Mrs. Claus will invite you to Santa breakfast and convene in the upstairs hall for a chat. Our cooking is home style southern (but healthy!) You will want to experience Sassafras with family and friends...we look forward to greeting you! Serenity - Zionsville, Indiana, a restored 1868 home that now welcomes all. Relax in our main dining room that has been restored in the craftsman style with dark mahogany and old oriental rugs. Dine upstairs in “the tree house room” formal dining room or enjoy a book club meeting and lunch in the library. For 6 months out of the year the garden welcomes you with its vintage plants and old bricks. The menu includes family favorites with wonderful flavors…this restaurant just gives you a hug! What are the common denominators with all of the restaurants? My friends are the only ones who work for me. Everything is made fresh daily; we rarely open a can. We love to host special events. And our locations are wonderful to take out of town or special guests. We are often hosting special things, like fashion shows on Wednesdays, Wine Dinners, Crab Boils, the twelve Days of Christmas Teas in the Scottish Tradition, English tea every day, etc. What is missing? YOU! Come be a guest at your own party…or just stop by. We look forward to seeing you. Karin Glass |
